Dr. Jessica Mumme of Heart in Hand Pediatrics had the joy of visiting two third grade classes during library time at Powell Elementary to read Chapter 1 of her self-published children’s book, Tales of Tibby Tiburón: A Pandemic Puppy. Students also got to meet the real Tibby, who joined the visit and happily accepted lots of pets and attention from the children!

In addition to sharing the story behind the book, she brought her pediatric “doctor bag” and talked with students about what it is like to make house calls as a pediatrician. The children enjoyed seeing real medical equipment up close and learning more about caring for patients outside of a traditional doctor’s office. It was a wonderful afternoon combining reading, storytelling, medicine, and plenty of puppy cuddles!
